Muscat – The number of vehicles registered in Oman reached nearly 1.9mn at the end of June 2026, up 5.5% from a year earlier, according to the National Centre for Statistics and Information.
The total stood at 1,896,956 vehicles, of which private vehicles accounted for the largest share at 1,503,239.
Commercial vehicles totalled 281,217, while rental vehicles numbered 44,817 and taxis 28,859. The fleet included 11,764 government vehicles and 10,961 vehicles under temporary registration.
Motorcycles recorded the highest growth among registration categories, rising 10.7% to 9,005 by the end of June.
By weight, vehicles under three tonnes dominated the fleet at 1,720,196. Vehicles weighing between seven and ten tonnes totalled 80,736, while those above ten tonnes stood at 54,912.
