Riyadh – United States and Saudi forces have conducted coordinated military strikes targeting Iran-backed militia bases across eastern Iraq following a series of drone attacks on regional energy infrastructure.

According to the United States Central Command, the operation served as a strong response to more than thirty aerial drone attacks directed by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

Iraq’s Popular Mobilisation Forces stated that at least twenty of its members were killed and thirty-two others wounded during coalition raids across multiple Iraqi provinces.

The escalation followed an attempted missile attack by Iran against United States forces in the Middle East, which military officials confirmed were successfully intercepted. Meanwhile, global oil prices surged in Asian markets amid growing concerns over potential disruptions to energy shipments through the vital Strait of Hormuz.
