New Delhi – India has introduced an upgraded version of its Air Suvidha portal, making it mandatory for all international passengers arriving in the country to submit an online health self-declaration form before travel as part of enhanced surveillance measures linked to the ongoing Ebola disease outbreak.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation, in collaboration with Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), launched Air Suvidha 2.0, a contactless Passenger Health Self-Declaration Portal designed to strengthen public health monitoring while ensuring smooth passenger processing at airports.
Under the new guidelines, all international travellers must complete the online Health Self-Declaration Form (SDF) up to 24 hours before arriving in India. The form requires passengers to provide details of their travel history over the previous 21 days, any potential exposure to infected individuals, and the presence of symptoms associated with Ebola or other communicable diseases.
Indian authorities said the upgraded platform aims to facilitate faster, seamless and contactless health screening and immigration clearance while improving the country’s ability to detect and respond to potential public health threats at points of entry.
The move comes as countries worldwide continue to strengthen border health protocols and surveillance systems to prevent the cross-border spread of infectious diseases.
Travellers from Oman and other countries planning to visit India are advised to complete the declaration accurately before departure to avoid delays upon arrival. Authorities have also urged passengers to stay informed of the latest travel advisories and health requirements through the Air Suvidha portal.
The Indian government said the upgraded digital platform reflects its commitment to leveraging technology to enhance public health preparedness and ensure safer international travel.
