Muscat – Ihsaan Association will add three new ambulances to its growing fleet this month, raising the total number of vehicles dedicated to transporting elderly citizens and people with disabilities to healthcare facilities from nine to 12.
Launched in partnership with Al Jisr Foundation and Al Athar Waqf Foundation, the ambulances will be introduced under the initiative ‘Bridges of Care’ to improve access to medical services for vulnerable members of society.
Speaking to Muscat Daily, Jokha Al Farsi, CEO of Ihsaan Association, said the first vehicle, named Jisr Al Wafaa (Bridge of Loyalty), will be inaugurated in Barka on June 28. It will be followed by Jisr Al Aafiyah (Bridge of Wellness) in Ibra and Jisr Al Hayat (Bridge of Life) in Sur, extending the association’s reach to new communities across the sultanate.
“Our mission is to ensure that no elderly person is deprived of healthcare because of transportation challenges,” Jokha said. “These ambulances will provide safe, reliable and dignified transport for senior citizens and people with disabilities attending medical appointments, treatment sessions and follow-up care.”
The association currently operates nine ambulances bearing the names Rahma, Kifah, Aafiyah, Ataa, Hiba, Amina, Amal, Gaith and Athar. Together, these provide transport services throughout the week, connecting beneficiaries with hospitals and healthcare centres, particularly in Muscat governorate.

Since its establishment, Ihsaan Association has helped more than 8,000 elderly citizens access medical services across Oman. Its activities are supported by 140 volunteers, including 52 trained ambulance drivers, who contribute their time and expertise to serving beneficiaries.
Jokha said the expansion reflects the association’s commitment to enhancing the quality of life of older people and promoting social welfare. “The names chosen for the ambulances symbolise compassion, hope and generosity, values that are at the heart of our work,” she added.
Beyond transportation services, the association also conducts awareness campaigns in schools and communities to promote respect for parents, strengthen family values and encourage volunteerism among younger generations.
Ihsaan Association aims to establish at least one ambulance service in every governorate and has called on private sector organisations and philanthropists to support its nationwide expansion plans.
