Muscat – Omani youth claimed six prizes at the inaugural GCC Youth Creativity Award in the World of Data, held in Doha on Saturday to mark Gulf Youth Day. Oman’s best performance was in the Open Data category, where its participants swept all three top positions.

Organised by Qatar’s Ministry of Sports and Youth in cooperation with the National Statistics Centre under the National Planning Council, the competition brought together young innovators from across the Gulf in the fields of data science, statistics, artificial intelligence and digital innovation. Participants were required to be GCC nationals aged between 18 and 34.

Oman’s clean sweep in the Open Data category was led by Nasser bin Saeed Al Shukaili, who took first place with his project STEP, followed by Mujahid bin Mohammed Al Suwaiti in second place with Orca, and Nawaf bin Saud Al Rashdi in third with RealTime Dashboard Report.

In the Statistical Analysis and Data Visualisation category, Ruqayyah bint Mohammed Al Khaifiyah claimed third place for her project Skills Compass, behind Qatar’s Abdullah Mohammed Al Haddad in first and Kuwait’s Khulood Mishari Al Ajmi in second.

Oman’s Mohammed bin Khamis Al Farsi won the first place in the AI Applications category for  his project One Stop Intelligence, ahead of two Qatari competitors.

Innovator Amna bint Saif Al Raisi secured second place in the Data Foresight and Predictive Models category for her project Riwaa, with Saudi Arabia’s Atheer bint Abdullah Al Harbi taking the top prize and Shamsa Mohammed Al Mheiri of the UAE finishing third.

The award is designed as an annual regional platform to build a digitally empowered generation of Gulf youth, strengthen skills in data analytics and artificial intelligence, and encourage practical solutions that support data-driven policymaking and sustainable development across GCC economies.
