European firm eyes launch operations from Oman’s Etlaq Spaceport

3 Jun 2026 HyImpulse explores launch operations from Oman’s Etlaq Spaceport

Muscat – Etlaq Spaceport, Oman’s first commercial spaceport and the first of its kind in the MENA region, has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with HyImpulse Technologies, a European launch services provider operating across Germany and the United Kingdom, to explore future launch operations on Omani soil.

The agreement outlines a framework for HyImpulse to conduct launch activities from Etlaq, beginning with mission-specific operations before potentially establishing a longer-term presence at the facility.

For HyImpulse, the deal offers a strategic foothold beyond northern Europe. Oman’s geographic latitude unlocks a broader range of orbital inclinations, giving the company greater mission flexibility and access to emerging customer markets across the GCC, Asia, and Africa.

Under the LOI, HyImpulse would gain access to Etlaq’s launch infrastructure and mission support capabilities for both its SR75 and SL1 vehicles, as the company evaluates near and longer-term operational opportunities in the region.

“Our role is to provide more than a location — we provide the operational environment, coordination, infrastructure, and support needed to help launch companies prepare, operate, and scale,” said Julanda Al Riyami, Chief Commercial Officer of Etlaq.

Dr Christian Schmierer, Co-Founder and CEO of HyImpulse, said the agreement marks “an important step in expanding our international launch footprint from Europe into the Middle East,” adding that diversifying spaceport access strengthens the company’s operational resilience and long-term competitiveness.

The LOI is the latest signal of growing international interest in Etlaq as a commercially focused launch hub capable of supporting providers at varying stages of mission readiness — from initial campaign activity through to sustained operations.
