Muscat – Environment Authority (EA) has responded to circulating reports regarding a fisherman spotting potential oil pollution during a routine fishing activity. Following the report, specialised monitoring and environmental assessment teams immediately commenced operations in coordination with the relevant authorities to investigate the situation and take necessary measures in line with approved regulations.

The Authority officially confirmed that its field teams did not detect any pollution or oil spills in the reported area or its surrounding waters. Despite the negative findings, field monitoring activities are still ongoing alongside joint coordination with competent authorities to fully ensure the safety of the marine habitats.

Furthermore, the Environment Authority has called upon all fishermen and sea-goers to immediately report any environmental observations or pollution cases. Reports can be submitted directly via the Environmental Emergency Center hotline at 93930088 or through the official “Tajaoub” platform, which helps speed up responses and strengthens the collective protection of the marine environment.
