10 May 2026 National Climate Risk Awareness campaign to begin on Monday By OUR CORRESPONDENT

South Batinah – Oman is set to launch the fifth stage of its national awareness campaign regarding climatic conditions and tsunami risks on Monday. Operating under the slogan “Your Awareness is Your Safety,” the three-day initiative will take place in the South Batinah Governorate. This programme is a joint effort organised by the National Committee for Emergency Management, the Civil Aviation Authority, the Ministry of Information, and the Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority, in coordination with local authorities and the Ministry of Education.

The primary objective of the campaign is to elevate institutional and community understanding of weather-related hazards and tsunami threats. It focuses on clarifying the multi-hazard early warning systems and providing comprehensive guidance on appropriate safety procedures during emergencies. By implementing training programmes and diverse activities, the organisers aim to improve individual response capabilities and ensure a higher level of societal readiness.

The campaign specifically targets representatives from the public and private sectors, as well as civil society organisations and charitable groups. The agenda includes seminars, practical exercises, and an educational exhibition designed to distribute vital safety information. Oman continues to prioritise disaster management and preparedness to mitigate human and material losses. Following its start in coastal regions, this strategic awareness drive is scheduled to expand across all governorates of the Sultanate to ensure a robust and rapid national response to any future natural emergencies.
