Muscat – The Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) has awarded His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik the Arab Cultural Excellence Medal, its highest honour, in recognition of his support for Arab culture and efforts to strengthen its presence and identity.
In a statement, Saud bin Hilal Al Busaidi, Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth, said the award affirms “the noble approach in consolidating the status of knowledge and culture for their civilisational role in promoting the values of tolerance, coexistence and rapprochement between peoples”.
ALECSO will hold an official ceremony on Tuesday at its headquarters in Tunis, Tunisia to honour His Majesty in the presence of senior officials and cultural figures from across the Arab world.
Established in 1970, ALECSO is a specialised organisation affiliated with the Arab League. It focuses on advancing education, culture and science in Arab countries, promoting cultural integration and preserving heritage.
