Muscat – Omani youth photographers made a strong impression at the 5th International Youth Photography Competition in Russia, winning several awards and honourable mentions with works highlighting the sultanate’s rich heritage and culture.
The achievement came with support from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth.
Arwa bint Mahmoud Al Jabri won a gold medal for a photograph praised by the international jury for its strong human dimension. She also received three honourable mentions for other entries submitted to the competition.
Yassin bin Mohsen Al Hajri secured a gold medal for a photograph capturing a scene from Omani heritage in a distinctive artistic style. He also won a bronze medal and an honourable mention for works reflecting the authenticity of Oman’s environment and culture.

The competition saw notable participation from other young Omani talents too. Amer bin Mohsen Al Hajri received an honourable mention for a photograph showcasing the beauty and artistic details of the Omani desert, while Iman bint Mohsen Al Hajri earned an honourable mention for a vibrant image portraying the spirit of Omani society and its close connection with the environment.
The Omani entries highlighted diverse themes, including bedouin life, folk heritage, natural landscapes and traditional customs, reflecting the richness of Oman’s visual culture and the creativity of its youth in expressing national identity through photography.
