Muscat – An Omani security source has reported that a residential building housing company employees in the Tibat area of the wilayat of Bukha, Musandam was targeted in an attack, resulting in injuries to two expatriates, damage to four vehicles and shattered windows in an adjacent house.

Authorities are investigating the incident and have affirmed their commitment to taking all necessary measures to ensure the safety and security of both citizens and residents.

Earlier on Monday, Jassim Mohammed Al Budaiwi, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), condemned the targeting of a UAE tanker owned by ADNOC while transiting the Strait of Hormuz.

The UAE said the vessel was targeted by two drones. No injuries were reported.

In a statement, the UAE’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the attack constituted a violation of UN Security Council Resolution 2817, which affirms the importance of freedom of navigation and rejects the targeting of commercial vessels or obstruction of international maritime routes.

The ministry said that attacking commercial shipping and using the Strait of Hormuz as a means of economic coercion or blackmail amounted to acts of piracy by Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps and posed a direct threat to regional stability and global energy security.

In the evening, UAE’s Ministry of Defence said four missiles were launched from Iran, three of which were intercepted and one fell into the sea.

Fujairah’s Media Office said a ‘large fire broke out’ at the petroleum industrial site in the emirate after a drone attack from Iran.
