Muscat – His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik received Sihasak Phuangketkeow, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, at Al Barakah Palace on Thursday. During the audience, the Thai Deputy Prime Minister conveyed the deep appreciation of his government and the Thai people for the Sultanate of Oman’s rapid and constructive humanitarian response. Specifically, the guest praised Oman’s vital role in the successful evacuation and assistance of the crew of a Thai vessel that encountered difficulties within the Strait of Hormuz.
The discussions also covered various aspects of bilateral cooperation, with a particular focus on enhancing economic and commercial partnerships to serve the interests of both nations. The two leaders reviewed the current regional situation and its significant impact on the global economy and the safety of international maritime navigation. Sihasak Phuangketkeow listened to His Majesty’s perspective and evaluation of these developments, expressing great admiration for His Majesty’s wise approach. He lauded Oman’s consistent efforts in promoting dialogue and supporting diplomatic and political channels as the primary means to address the root causes of regional tensions and ensure lasting global stability.
