Spain – Oman will take part in the 32nd edition of the Seafood Expo Global 2026, scheduled to be held from April 21 to 23 in Barcelona, Spain.

The Omani pavilion will feature representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn), and the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones, in addition to eight Omani factories specialising in seafood processing and packaging.

H E Yaqoub bin Khalfan Al Busaidi, Undersecretary for Fisheries and head of the Omani delegation, said the sultanate’s participation in the expo is strategically important as the event is among the world’s leading gatherings dedicated to the fisheries industry.

He noted that the exhibition brings together leading experts, companies and investors from around the world, providing an important platform for promoting Omani seafood products and strengthening the country’s presence in international markets.

H E Al Busaidi added that participation in the event reflects the ministry’s efforts, in cooperation with other national entities, to open new export channels and attract quality investments into the fisheries sector.

He explained that the delegation will also explore the latest technologies and global practices in fishing, seafood processing and marketing, which will support the sector’s development and enhance its competitiveness in line with international standards.

Such initiatives, he said, contribute to increasing the sector’s economic returns and boosting its contribution to the national economy in line with the goals of Oman Vision 2040.

Organisers say the 2026 edition in Barcelona will be the largest in the event’s history, covering more than 53,000sqm of exhibition space and attracting participants from over 80 countries, including 62 national and regional pavilions.

This year’s expo will also feature a dedicated platform for startups and innovators in the aquaculture sector to present new solutions in technology, marine animal health and sustainable feed.
