Muscat – Reflecting the deeply rooted values of solidarity and compassion in society, Oman Food Bank (Daima) distributed more than 96,000 meals and food items to beneficiaries across the sultanate during Ramadan.

As part of its Ramadan initiatives, the bank distributed 57,500 bottles of water and provided 34,000 meals through its Preserving Blessings initiative, which focuses on collecting surplus food and distributing these among the needy, helping reduce waste while supporting vulnerable groups.

In addition, 2,700 food baskets were distributed through the Permanent Baskets initiative, alongside 2,410 iftar meals provided directly to fasting beneficiaries. The bank also distributed 500 baskets of fresh fruits and vegetables to beneficiary families.

These figures reflect the scale of initiatives implemented by Oman Food Bank during Ramadan alone, highlighting the extensive field and organisational efforts undertaken within a short period and the tangible humanitarian impact achieved.

Community participation played a key role in the success of the programmes, with more than 300 volunteers contributing to the implementation of various initiatives. Their efforts embodied the spirit of volunteerism and social responsibility, helping ensure that assistance reached beneficiaries efficiently and systematically.

Beyond food distribution, the bank also focused on raising community awareness on the importance of preserving resources and reducing food waste. Through targeted awareness campaigns, it encouraged responsible food consumption and promoted positive practices in handling surplus food.

The bank emphasised that these figures represent more than statistics, reflecting human stories and the positive difference made in the lives of thousands of families. It also praised the vital role of its institutional and individual partners, noting that their support was fundamental in achieving these outcomes and strengthening the sustainability and impact of humanitarian initiatives across the community.
