Suhar – The Food Safety and Quality Center has announced the launch of the second edition of the Food Safety Marathon, inviting members of the public to participate in a community-focused event aimed at promoting healthy lifestyles and raising awareness about food safety.

The event will take place on April 6, from 3pm to 6pm, at the corniche area in front of Suhar Fort. Organised as part of Food Safety Week, the marathon seeks to combine public engagement, health awareness and educational outreach in an interactive setting.

According to organisers, the initiative is designed to encourage families, youth and community members to adopt healthier habits while learning about the importance of safe food handling and quality standards. Participants will also have the opportunity to engage with specialists and organisations working in the food sector.

Alongside the marathon, a range of accompanying activities will be held, including entertainment programmes for children and families, as well as an exhibition featuring companies operating in the food industry. The exhibition will showcase products, services and innovations that support food safety and quality in Oman.

Registration for the event opened on March 29 and will remain available until April 5, with interested participants able to sign up through the electronic link provided via the website of Food Safety and Quality Center.

Organisers say the initiative reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen community awareness of food safety while promoting active and healthy lifestyles across the sultanate.
