Muscat – Moderate to heavy rainfall is expected on Wednesday, with weather authorities warning that unsettled conditions are likely to continue until Saturday across parts of the sultanate.

According to the Civil Aviation Authority, the current weather system continues to affect northern governorates, with intermittent rainfall of varying intensity recorded in several areas.

Meteorologist Khalid bin Khalifa Al Jabri said forecasts for Wednesday indicate the development of thunderclouds over multiple regions, bringing moderate to heavy rainfall. He added that thunderstorms may at times be accompanied by hail, with a high risk of runoff in wadis and mountain streams.

Rainfall amounts are expected to range between 30mm and 100mm, particularly in Musandam, Dhahirah, North and South Batinah, Dakhliyah, Muscat and North Sharqiyah.

Meteorology specialist Younis Al Shaizawi said weather conditions are expected to stabilise on Thursday, with a slight rise in temperatures across most parts of the country.

However, rainfall is likely

to return on Friday and Saturday, with light to moderate showers forecast in some governorates.

Remote work on Wednesday

The Ministry of Labour announced the implementation of remote working for government units and private sector establishments on Wednesday, in Muscat, North and South Batinah, Musandam, Buraimi, Dhahirah, Dakhliyah and North Sharqiyah.

The decision follows alerts issued by the National Multi Hazard Early Warning Center and directives from the National Committee for Emergency Management regarding the impact of heavy rainfall.
