Musandam – The Directorate General of Agricultural, Fisheries and Water Resources in Musandam has launched the National Livestock Vaccination Campaign for 2026/27, calling on livestock owners across the governorate to cooperate with veterinary teams and make use of the vaccination services provided.

The campaign, which runs from September 6, 2026, to March 5, 2027, aims to strengthen animal health, prevent the spread of epidemic diseases and support the sustainable development of the livestock sector.

As part of the campaign, veterinary teams will administer vaccinations against five diseases affecting livestock and pets. These include Peste des petits ruminants (PPR), which affects small ruminants; goat and sheep pox; enterotoxaemia; contagious caprine pleuropneumonia (CCPP); and rabies, which affects cats and dogs.

The directorate urged livestock owners to cooperate with veterinary teams and benefit from the vaccination services to safeguard the health and safety of their animals and help reduce the spread of infectious and epidemic diseases.

The campaign is also intended to contribute to protecting livestock wealth and improving production levels, while enhancing food security and supporting the sustainable development of the animal wealth sector.

According to the campaign’s objectives, vaccination is a key preventive measure for protecting livestock from epidemic diseases and limiting their transmission. It also contributes to increasing the income of livestock breeders by helping maintain healthy and productive animals.

The directorate called on breeders to play an active role in the campaign by ensuring that their animals receive the required vaccinations through the veterinary teams.

The campaign carries the message: ‘Your vaccination is safety… and your livestock wealth is a responsibility’.

The initiative forms part of efforts to promote better animal health practices and strengthen preventive veterinary services among livestock owners in Musandam.
