Muscat– The Public Prosecution has reminded students of conduct prohibited under Article 48 of Oman’s School Education Law, as schools prepare to begin the new academic year.

The provisions aim to promote discipline, responsible behaviour and respect for public order and the values of Omani society.

Students are prohibited from violating public order or public morals, as well as from cheating or attempting to breach examination rules.

The law also prohibits promoting beliefs, convictions or ideas that could affect national unity, social cohesion or the values of society.

Students are further prohibited from promoting, possessing or trading in narcotic or intoxicating substances, or substances that could have harmful effects on mental or cognitive abilities.

The Public Prosecution also highlighted restrictions on the use of social media and other communication platforms. Students must not use such platforms to insult or defame others, spread rumours, cause harm to society, or damage the reputation of the school, its students or employees.

The reminder comes as schools across Oman prepare to welcome students for the new academic year, underscoring the importance of responsible conduct and adherence to the law both within and outside the school environment.
