Muscat – The Oman Olympic Committee (OOC), represented by the Oman Committee for Sport and Active Society, will organise Oman Olympic Day 2026 on September 14 at The Village in Al Hail Al Shamaleyah under the theme ‘You Can Do This! Let’s Move’.

The event will be held under the patronage of HH Sayyid Azzan bin Qais Al Said, Chairman of the OOC, and will bring together sports personalities and members of the community.

Olympic Day aims to promote physical activity, strengthen the presence of sport in society and raise awareness of Olympic values and principles. It will also provide an interactive platform where participants of different age groups can explore a range of sporting activities.

The programme includes a 1.7km walk, alongside taekwondo, karate, athletics, badminton, table tennis, teqball, sepak takraw, 3×3 basketball, wheelchair basketball and tennis.

Among the highlights is the Strongest Man competition, featuring physical strength challenges such as a deadlift involving the lifting of a car and a log-carrying challenge. The winners of the Fitness Challenge will also be announced during the event.

The programme includes a dedicated awareness component, with booths organised by OOC committees covering sports medicine, anti-doping and gender equality in sport.

The booths will provide information on sports health and safety, integrity in sport, women’s participation, athletes’ rights and needs, and environmental sustainability.

Community participation will be further supported through booths in partnership with the Omani Special Olympics Association and Oman Cancer Association. A medical screening booth will also be provided in collaboration with Mabela Health Centre.

Children and families will have dedicated recreational spaces featuring skateboarding, drawing and colouring, face painting, games and other activities.

The OOC said Oman Olympic Day reflects its efforts to encourage sport as part of daily life and promote the values of participation, cooperation and active living.

The event will bring together sport, health awareness, education and entertainment, providing the community with an opportunity to engage in physical activity and experience different sporting disciplines.
