Jalan Bani Bu Hassan – The third edition of the Mabsali Harvest Season Forum was held in the wilayat of Jalan Bani Bu Hassan in South Sharqiyah on Sunday, highlighting the economic and nutritional importance of the traditional Omani date variety and its role in strengthening food security.

Organised in Falaj Al Mashayikh village, one of the wilayat’s prominent agricultural areas, the forum sought to encourage investment in the palm and date sector and showcase value-added industries linked to the crop. It also highlighted modern practices and technologies used in the mabsali processing process to improve production quality and enhance efficiency.

The forum aimed to strengthen collaboration among farmers, specialists and stakeholders in the agricultural sector by providing a platform for exchanging expertise and experiences. It also focused on reducing agricultural losses, promoting handicrafts based on palm fronds, and creating opportunities for productive families and rural women to display and market their products.

The event featured a live demonstration of the mabsali harvesting process and an accompanying exhibition showcasing dates, agricultural products and traditional palm-based handicrafts. An awareness corner was also organised to educate visitors on agricultural pests and preventive measures.

The forum targeted farmers, investors, researchers and relevant government entities, in addition to individuals interested in Oman’s agricultural heritage and culture. Organisers said the initiative contributes to preserving this long-standing agricultural tradition while supporting its sustainable development and expanding its economic potential.
