Muscat – The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has announced precautionary health measures for passengers arriving in Oman from countries affected by the ongoing Ebola outbreak, requiring travellers to complete an electronic health declaration form before arrival.
The move follows epidemiological updates issued by the World Health Organization (WHO), which indicate the continued spread of Ebola disease caused by the Bundibugyo virus strain and an increase in confirmed, suspected and probable cases in parts of Africa, particularly the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda.
In a circular issued on Monday, the CAA said the measures were introduced in coordination with the Ministry of Health and the Medical Response Sector as part of efforts to strengthen disease surveillance and ensure preparedness at Oman’s airports and border entry points.
Under the directive, the electronic health self-declaration form is mandatory for nationals of Congo and Uganda, as well as passengers arriving from either country. The requirement also applies to travellers who have visited either nation within 21 days prior to their arrival in Oman.
Passengers covered by the directive are required to complete the Ministry of Health’s Ebola Health Declaration Form through the link https://survey.moh.gov.om/survey/index.php/799739?lang=ar
The CAA emphasised that the measure is preventive and aims to enhance early detection of potential health risks while maintaining the safety of passengers, residents and visitors.
Oman has consistently adopted proactive public health measures in line with international health regulations, particularly in response to emerging infectious diseases and global health alerts.
