Italy – National Museum of Oman officially inaugurated its latest exhibition, “Oman and Italy: Two Millennia of Cross-Civilisational Dialogue,” at the renowned Pinacoteca di Brera in Milan on June 17. This significant cultural event, which remains open to the public until September 13, highlights the profound historical connections between the two nations through trade, knowledge, and artistic exchange. The exhibition is part of the National Museum’s “Oman Day” initiative, designed to present Oman’s scientific and cultural heritage to international audiences at prestigious global institutions.

The opening ceremony welcomed distinguished guests, including H H Sayyid Nizar al Julanda Majid al Said, Ambassador of Oman to Italy, and Jamal bin Hassan al Mousawi, Secretary-General of the National Museum, alongside various Italian cultural officials. The exhibition features a curated selection of artefacts that trace the civilisational legacy shared across the Indian Ocean and the Mediterranean. Themes explored include the ancient Frankincense Route, historic water management systems, and centuries of intellectual contributions in maritime science and law. Through rare manuscripts, antique cartography, and archaeological discoveries—such as Iron Age pottery and Venetian coins found in Oman—the display illustrates how Oman and Italy have influenced one another’s history and development. This exhibition serves as a testament to the strategic and cultural depth of the relationship between the two friendly nations.
