Al Wusta – A joint inspection campaign carried out in Al Jazer in Al Wusta governorate, has resulted in the seizure of a large quantity of pesticides found to be in violation of approved standards and specifications.

The campaign was conducted by the Consumer Protection Department in Al Jazer in cooperation with the Directorate General of Agricultural Wealth, Fisheries and Water Resources in Al Wusta and Al Wusta Municipality. It targeted a number of commercial establishments in the wilayat as part of efforts to strengthen market oversight and safeguard consumer rights.

Officials inspected shops and commercial outlets to assess compliance with market regulations and ensure the availability of essential commodities at stable prices. The campaign also focused on verifying that products offered for sale met approved technical and health standards.

During the inspections, authorities identified and seized a number of pesticides that did not conform to approved specifications. Legal action was taken against the violations, and the confiscated products were dealt with in accordance with applicable regulations to prevent their circulation in the market and protect public health.

The campaign forms part of ongoing joint efforts by regulatory authorities to enhance market monitoring, ensure fair trading practices and maintain a safe commercial environment for consumers.

The Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) said it will continue to implement joint inspection campaigns and regulatory programmes in cooperation with relevant government entities to improve market compliance and strengthen consumer protection.

According to the CPA, such initiatives contribute to the objectives of Oman Vision 2040 by enhancing quality of life, reinforcing governance and regulatory frameworks, and supporting a competitive economy built on a safe and sustainable marketplace.
