Muscat – The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (MTCIT) has invited Omani researchers, innovators and institutions to participate in the OIC-CERT Global Cybersecurity Award 2026, an international initiative aimed at recognising groundbreaking cybersecurity projects that contribute to safer digital environments and societal wellbeing.

The award, organised by the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation Computer Emergency Response Team (OIC-CERT), is open to participants worldwide, including government entities, private-sector organisations, academic institutions, international and regional bodies, and civil society organisations.

According to MTCIT, the initiative seeks to honour innovative cybersecurity solutions that address emerging digital challenges while supporting economic and social development. The ministry encouraged Omani innovators and research institutions to showcase their expertise on the international stage and contribute to advancing cybersecurity capabilities globally.

The Award was established to encourage international collaboration in cybersecurity and recognise projects that enhance the wellbeing of communities while promoting a secure digital ecosystem. The initiative aligns with OIC-CERT’s vision of becoming a leading international cybersecurity platform dedicated to creating a safer cyberspace through cooperation, knowledge sharing and capacity building.

Organisers said the award recognises exceptional efforts that support OIC-CERT’s mission of strengthening cybersecurity capabilities and mitigating cyber threats through global partnerships.

Projects submitted for consideration may address one or more key areas, including People, covering capacity building, awareness programmes and education; Process, encompassing policy development, governance frameworks, digital norms and entrepreneurship; and Technology, focusing on innovative systems, solutions and cybersecurity advancements.

The competition is expected to attract entries from across the world, highlighting innovative approaches to tackling cyber threats and strengthening digital resilience in both public and private sectors.

Only one winner will be selected annually and will receive a cash prize of US$1,000 during the annual OIC-CERT Conference. Beyond the monetary award, the recipient will gain international recognition for contributions that advance cybersecurity and support safer digital communities

The deadline for submissions is July 31. Participants are required to complete the official entry form through the OIC-CERT Global Cybersecurity Award portal.
