Muscat – Royal Oman Police (ROP) has been selected by the World Health Organization (WHO) to represent the Eastern Mediterranean Region within the Global Technical Committee for Road Safety Legislation. This significant appointment makes the Royal Oman Police the only security and military entity to participate in this distinguished international forum.
This global recognition follows the Royal Oman Police’s remarkable success at the International Road Federation (IRF) Global Awards 2025, where the organisation secured first place for its pioneering use of artificial intelligence and advanced data analytics in traffic management. By implementing AI-powered monitoring systems and scientific accident data analysis, the ROP has successfully identified high-risk zones, reduced accident rates, and improved overall emergency response efficiency. This achievement underscores the efficiency of Oman’s national road safety policies and highlights the Sultanate’s proactive commitment to adopting modern technologies to enhance public safety and infrastructure development on both regional and global scales.
