Muscat – Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth (MCSY) convened a media briefing to showcase its primary achievements and key performance indicators recorded throughout 2025, while simultaneously detailing its strategic trajectory for the future. H E Saud bin Hilal al Busaidi, Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth emphasised that the Ministry is preparing to launch a comprehensive array of high-quality programmes and events. These initiatives are specifically designed to identify, nurture, and develop young talent, while fostering an enabling environment that ensures sustainable growth and long-term success.

Reflecting on the preceding year, the Minister confirmed that the Ministry successfully executed 687 distinct activities and events. These initiatives reached 105,376 beneficiaries across various governorates in Oman, underscoring the dynamic expansion of cultural, sporting, and youth-oriented movements throughout the country.

H E Sayyid Said bin Sultan al Busaidi, Undersecretary for Culture provided a detailed overview of the cultural sector’s contributions to the Tenth Five-Year Plan. He noted that the sector has delivered 900 activities, engaging 85,733 participants. Furthermore, the Ministry provided support to 451 artistic troupes, implemented 46 cultural initiatives, and conducted 23 research studies. Oman also proudly participated as the guest of honour at five international book fairs and secured the registration of 18 elements of intangible cultural heritage with UNESCO, consisting of five national and 13 joint entries.

Regarding national infrastructure, the Undersecretary reported on the progress of the Sayyid Tarik bin Taimur Cultural Complex. Current completion rates stand at 49% for the Literary Forum, 46% for the Arts House, 41% for the Cultural Cinema, 38% for the Oman National Library, and 32% for the National Theatre.
