Muscat – The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism (MHT) has announced the temporary closure of Samail Fort to the public. According to the official statement issued by the ministry, the closure takes effect from May 17, 2026 and will remain in place until further notice.

In light of this decision, the ministry has explicitly called upon individuals, tour operators, and relevant tourism institutions to cooperate with the new directive. Authorities strongly advise against including visits to Samail Fort within any current tourist itineraries, travel programmes, or sightseeing schedules during this closure period.
