Muscat – The Omani Women Academy has won the second edition of the Sustainable Education Award in the Outstanding Projects category for its pioneering Women Entrepreneurs Incubator initiative.
Presented by the Unesco Regional Bureau for Educational Planning, the award recognises the academy’s efforts in empowering women entrepreneurs through an integrated and innovative platform designed to transform ideas into sustainable business ventures.
The Women Entrepreneurs Incubator is a digital platform for sustainable vocational education, offering women an advanced learning environment focused on practical skills development, entrepreneurship and innovation. It contributes to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 4 by promoting vocational training, equal access to education and sustainable development learning opportunities.
It also supports the goals of Oman Vision 2040 by strengthening women’s participation in the national economy and encouraging entrepreneurship as a driver of economic diversification.
Targeting artisan families, jobseekers and women with disabilities, the incubator provides participants with modern professional skills, mentorship programmes and specialised consultancy services delivered by experts in entrepreneurship and business development.
It also helps participants access partnerships and funding opportunities while supporting the establishment of competitive women-led startups capable of contributing effectively to the local economy.
A youth-led national initiative, the academy focuses on empowering women and enhancing their leadership and professional capabilities through specialised training programmes and workshops aimed at preparing them for active roles in development and community building.
