Muscat – The Ministry of Education and the Association for Children with Disabilities explored ways to strengthen cooperation in supporting educational and rehabilitation services for children with disabilities during a visit by H E Dr Madiha bint Ahmed Al Shaibani to the association’s headquarters on Sunday.

During the visit, the minister was briefed on the association’s educational, rehabilitation and training initiatives aimed at supporting children and helping them develop essential life skills. She stressed the importance of closer cooperation between the Ministry of Education and specialised associations to strengthen educational and humanitarian outcomes.

H E Madiha also praised the association’s efforts in supporting children with disabilities and their families through a range of integrated programmes and services.

Khadija bint Nasser Al Saati, chairperson of the Association for Children with Disabilities, said the organisation continues to develop its programmes despite challenges, with support from government institutions and the private sector. She noted that these efforts contribute to strengthening social inclusion.

The association operates eight centres across several governorates in Oman, providing educational and rehabilitation services to 361 children with disabilities. Its programmes aim to develop children’s abilities and improve their opportunities for participation in society.

The non-profit organisation supports children aged 4 to 14 with hearing, intellectual and physical disabilities, as well as those with autism spectrum disorder and Down syndrome. It also offers pre-vocational preparation programmes for young people aged 15 to 23 to help them acquire practical skills and improve prospects for social integration.
