Muscat – The Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning stated on Monday that total investments in Sultan Haitham City now exceeds RO2.4bn, while infrastructure works is valued at RO205mn.

The project, one of the largest urban development initiatives in Oman, is progressing steadily. Site preparation and land levelling have been completed, bridge construction has reached about 75%, infrastructure works are nearing 40% and power stations are around 94% complete.

Officials said the project is witnessing strong market demand, with more than 1,700 residential units already sold, reflecting growing interest in integrated urban communities designed to modern planning standards.

The update came during a meeting organised by the ministry on Monday in Muscat for media professionals and journalists to highlight its projects, initiatives and the development of flexible and efficient digital services aimed at improving the experience of beneficiaries.

Beyond Sultan Haitham City, the ministry reviewed other major urban developments. In A’Thuraya City, where work began in 2025, projects worth RO45mn have already been awarded, while development agreements exceeding RO265mn have been signed.

The Al Jabal Al Aali project was also highlighted as an integrated tourism and urban development destination with investments reaching RO650mn through six development agreements. Around 60% of the project has already been awarded to developers amid strong investment interest.

In addition, the ministry is advancing the Al Khuwair Downtown masterplan, where two investment memoranda of understanding valued at more than RO150mn each have been signed with Artas Holding and OGCC Global.

The ministry emphasised the fact that its housing initiatives aim to enhance social stability and improve quality of life through programmes designed to support eligible families in securing suitable housing. Between 2020 and 2025, more than 8,000 families across the sultanate benefited from social housing programmes.

The ministry presented the transformation of its housing empowerment system from traditional procedures to proactive digital services at the meeting. A key highlight was the ‘Choose Your Land’ platform, which enables citizens to select residential land or housing units electronically based on specific criteria in a secure and transparent digital environment.

According to the ministry, more than 90,000 beneficiaries selected land plots or housing units through the platform between 2021 and 2025, reflecting the growing adoption of digital services.
