Sur – Earthquake Monitoring Centre at Sultan Qaboos University has reported a minor seismic event in the Arabian Sea on the morning of Sunday, April 12. The earthquake, which reached a magnitude of 2.5 on the Richter scale, was recorded at precisely 05:19 am local time. Data indicates that the tremor occurred at a depth of 6 km, situated approximately 51 km north-east of the city of Sur.

This seismic activity was detected by the national network of monitoring stations as part of ongoing regional surveillance. While the magnitude 2.5 rating classifies the event as a minor earthquake, officials continue to track data to ensure public safety and environmental awareness.
