9 Apr 2026 Omani Hajj Mission outlines new strategic developments By OUR CORRESPONDENT

MuscatOmani Hajj Mission recently convened a meeting with its partner Hajj companies to review the latest developments and preparations for the 1447 AH season. H E Ahmed bin Saleh Al Rashidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs and Head of the Omani Hajj Mission, detailed several key updates aimed at improving the experience for pilgrims. A primary focus has been placed on land transport, where the mission has collaborated with Saudi authorities to allow Omani buses to enter Saudi territory. These buses will transport pilgrims to designated hubs before transferring them to licensed Saudi transport for travel within the holy sites, a move designed to reduce financial and operational pressures on Omani companies.

To further ensure the safety of pilgrims, a new smart tracking system has been introduced for all buses. This technology features a digital dashboard that provides real-time movement data, allowing for rapid intervention during emergencies. Significant improvements have also been made to the infrastructure at the Mina camp. These upgrades include the installation of modern ceilings for better air circulation, enhanced lighting systems, and updated flooring to ensure a more comfortable and safer environment during the performance of rituals.

In addition to ground logistics, a coordinated effort between the Civil Aviation Authority and various airlines has resulted in a reduction in airfares for the current season. New travel options now include Taif Airport as a destination and the possibility of departing from Sohar Airport. On the medical front, the mission has introduced a new service allowing Hajj companies to be accompanied by Omani doctors. Seventeen physicians have already been approved to provide direct supervision and care under the guidance of the mission’s medical delegation. Finally, a new mission headquarters has been established in the Al Naseem district, strategically located near the holy sites to ensure easier access and better service delivery.
