Amazon web services in Bahrain damaged following drone attack

2 Apr 2026 Amazon web services in Bahrain damaged following drone attack By OUR CORRESPONDENT

Bahrain – A report by the Financial Times indicates that Amazon’s cloud computing operations in Bahrain have sustained physical damage following an Iranian strike on Wednesday. This incident follows recent threats issued by Iran’s Revolutionary Guards against major American technology companies operating within the Middle East, including Google, Microsoft, and Apple. Bahrain’s Interior Ministry confirmed that civil defence teams were deployed to extinguish a fire at a corporate facility resulting from what was described as Iranian aggression, though the ministry did not name the specific company at the time.

This latest development marks the second time in a month that Amazon Web Services infrastructure in the region has been affected by the ongoing conflict. Amazon had previously noted disruptions to its Bahrain region due to drone activity and has advised customers with critical workloads to migrate to alternative locations. The Amazon Web Services unit is a vital pillar for global website operations and government services, making any disruption a significant concern for regional digital stability.
