Muscat – Ministry of Social Development (MoSD) held a media briefing to outline its primary achievements throughout 2025 and present its strategic targets for the current year. During the meeting, H E Dr Laila bint Ahmed bin Awad Al Najjar, Minister of Social Development, highlighted the significant impact of royal care on the sector’s development. She confirmed that social security pensions were maintained for over 100,000 citizens during the past year, with a total expenditure reaching RO178mn. This financial commitment ensures the continued stability and support of vulnerable groups within the Sultanate.
H E Dr Laila also announced the approval of RO7mn for the establishment of a dedicated Autism Spectrum Disorder Centre for care and rehabilitation. The Ministry is currently conducting further studies to assess the requirements for similar facilities across different governorates. Furthermore, the 2025 performance review focused heavily on improving the quality and accessibility of services for people with disabilities. Current data reveals that 9,933 individuals are enrolled in 139 specialised rehabilitation centres nationwide.
