Iran – The Iranian government has officially confirmed the death of Rear Admiral Alireza Tangsiri, the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy (IRGC). According to official statements, Tangsiri succumbed to severe injuries sustained during a targeted military strike in southern Iran. The announcement follows days of speculation after international forces claimed to have successfully eliminated the naval chief in an operation near the strategic port of Bandar Abbas.

Tangsiri had led Iran’s naval forces since 2018 and was a central figure in the country’s maritime strategy, particularly regarding the control of the Strait of Hormuz. His death marks a significant loss for the Iranian military hierarchy during the current escalation of hostilities. Authorities in Tehran have acknowledged the commander’s passing as a “martyrdom,” while regional tensions continue to rise following a series of coordinated strikes on high-level military and political targets across the country.
