Muscat – The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (MTCIT) has launched the Oman Maritime Portal, a new digital platform designed to streamline maritime services and accelerate procedures across the sultanate’s maritime sector.
The platform will eventually provide more than 90 electronic maritime services, aimed at reducing paperwork, simplifying procedures, and enhancing the overall user experience for individuals, companies and government entities.
Developed as part of the ministry’s digital transformation drive, the portal will be rolled out in six phases. The first phase introduces 13 key services, including ship and marine unit registration, issuance and renewal of navigation permits, issuance of registration and mortgage certificates, release certificates, and inspection requests.
The portal integrates with several government and private entities, including the Royal Oman Police and the Oman Business Platform, in addition to multiple ministries, government agencies and private sector partners.
The Oman Maritime Portal acts as a single electronic gateway for maritime and port services, enabling faster processing, improved accessibility and greater operational efficiency for users.
It also features a comprehensive digital dashboard that allows real-time monitoring of system performance, including order statistics, service status, performance indicators and the latest transaction updates, with advanced filtering and search tools. The system is designed to enhance oversight and support decision-making through analytical reports.
Officials said the initiative will also contribute to capacity building for national talent through training and knowledge transfer programmes linked to the platform’s development and operation.
The launch reflects the ministry’s commitment to strengthening digital transformation in Oman’s maritime and logistics sector, improving service delivery and supporting the needs of citizens, businesses and government institutions.
