Muscat – Muscat Municipality has confirmed the successful reopening and maintenance of approximately 162 km of dirt roads that were severely impacted by the Al Masarrat low pressure weather system. This large-scale operation has specifically targeted the southern wilayats of the Muscat Governorate to ensure that transportation links are restored and communities are reconnected. The project involved intensive earthworks across a wide variety of locations, including essential routes in Wadi Al Zakt, Wadi Al Luhlu, and the internal roads of Al Sifa and Al Khairan.

Significant progress has been made in mountainous and valley regions where heavy rainfall caused substantial blockages and surface damage. Notable achievements include the clearing of 22 km in Wadi Al Luhlu and 17 km across Wadi Majlas and Al Rahba. Furthermore, municipal teams have worked diligently to open roads in Quriyat, including the areas of Al Salhah, Daghmar, and Mazarie, as well as several coastal and internal village tracks. This comprehensive recovery initiative remains a priority for the authorities as they continue to stabilise the regional infrastructure and ensure the safe movement of residents and services.
