Muscat – The Essential Services Sector of the National Committee for Emergency Management (NCEM) has handled hundreds of reports of disruptions to vital services during recent adverse weather conditions.
Specialised field teams responded to incidents across several governorates, working to ensure continuity of services despite challenging conditions.
The sector oversees critical infrastructure, including roads, electricity, telecommunications, water and sanitation networks, as well as fuel supply, public hygiene and waste management, aiming to limit disruptions during the weather situation.
Since the onset of the system, the sector has coordinated closely with the National Multi Hazard and Early Warning Centre, with its operations centre functioning round the clock. Coordination has also been maintained with the National Centre for Emergency Management, military and security agencies, and local emergency centres.
Authorities said business continuity and emergency response plans have been activated across affiliated entities to enhance readiness and ensure swift response to any developments.
The committee urged the public to report service disruptions through emergency numbers, including electricity (1011), water and sanitation (1442), waste management (1881), and telecommunications (1000), or via service providers.
Citizens and residents were advised to follow safety guidelines, avoid approaching electricity and water infrastructure, and keep clear of excavation sites linked to infrastructure projects.
