Muscat – The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has issued a public advisory urging motorists to exercise extreme caution while driving in dusty and windy weather conditions. Reduced visibility caused by stirred-up sand can significantly increase the risk of accidents if safety measures are not followed.

The ROP emphasised several key precautions for drivers: reduce speed, maintain a safe distance from other vehicles, stay in your lane, and turn on headlights and hazard lights. Most importantly, if visibility drops to zero, drivers are advised to pull over safely until conditions improve.

‘During dusty weather, safe driving is not just about protecting yourself — it’s about ensuring the safety of everyone on the road,’ the ROP stated. The authority also reminded drivers that following these guidelines can help preserve lives and prevent serious incidents.
