Bukha – More than 31,000 visitors flocked to Hil Tourist Beach in Bukha from April 23 to 27 for the vibrant Musandam Carnival, which concluded on Sunday. The five-day event served as a cornerstone of the Musandam Winter Season, drawing families, tourists, and culture enthusiasts from across the sultanate and beyond.
Organised by the Musandam Governorate in collaboration with both public and private sector partners, the carnival highlighted the rich cultural and artistic heritage of the region through a series of engaging performances, traditional showcases, and community-led activities.
The event provided a dynamic platform for local families engaged in cottage industries to present their products, including traditional dishes, handmade crafts, and unique artisanal items. Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) from across the governorate were actively involved, showcasing the creativity and entrepreneurial spirit of the local population.
The scenic backdrop of Musandam’s coastal and mountainous landscapes further enhanced the festive atmosphere, with open-air theatre performances, traditional music, and dance attracting audiences of all ages. Daily competitions, children’s activities, and cultural exhibitions helped create a family-friendly environment filled with energy and celebration.
Speaking to Muscat Daily, an official from the organising committee said, “The carnival exceeded our expectations in terms of turnout and engagement. It has become a vital event to promote tourism in Musandam and support local businesses and artisans.”
“With its growing popularity and wide appeal, the Musandam Carnival continues to reinforce the governorate’s position as a key cultural and tourist destination in Oman, combining natural beauty with deep-rooted traditions, ” the official concluded.
