Muscat – The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources (MOAF) has imported more than 428,000 live animals to meet the growing demand for red meat in Oman.
As of March 24, the imports include 29,092 cattle and 399,357 sheep and goats. The ministry has confirmed that it is working closely with livestock import companies to ensure sufficient supply, providing necessary support by streamlining the import process. A total of 129 permits have been approved for the import of live animals.
In addition, the veterinary staff at the Veterinary Quarantine Department are closely monitoring and enforcing stringent health protocols to prevent the spread of contagious or epidemic diseases, acting as the first line of defence to protect public health.
