Muscat – Oman has been ranked as the least polluted Arab country in the 2025 Pollution Index issued by Numbeo, a global crowd-sourced database.

The sultanate secured 23rd place overall in the global rankings. The ranking reflects Oman’s ongoing efforts to preserve environmental quality and promote sustainability.

According to Oman News Agency, the sultanate has implemented strategies aimed at reducing pollution and improving the quality of life. The index considers factors such as air and water quality, waste management, noise pollution, and the availability of green spaces.

‘Oman recorded low levels of pollution compared to the countries of the region, which contributed to achieving this advanced ranking.’

Strict environmental policies, sustainable projects, and government initiatives have played a key role in this success. Efforts include promoting clean energy, expanding afforestation projects, and developing waste management systems to maintain a healthy environment.

Oman’s achievement comes at a time when many industrial nations face growing environmental challenges due to urbanisation and industrial expansion. The sultanate’s approach serves as a model for the region in balancing economic development with nature conservation.

The ranking also highlights the role of the Environment Authority in implementing environmental strategies aligned with Oman Vision 2040.

This recognition reinforces Oman’s status as not only an attractive place to live due to its clean environment but also as a leader in maintaining a balance between development and environmental preservation.
