Muscat – Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) hosted the Oman-Uzbekistan Business Forum on Wednesday aiming to strengthen trade and investment ties between the two nations.
The forum provided a platform for exploring export and import opportunities and fostering economic collaboration.
The event coincided with the visit of a delegation of 20 Uzbek businesswomen representing key sectors such as real estate, design, electrical engineering, textiles, private education, healthcare and trade.
H E Abdul Salam Khatamov, Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Oman, emphasised the forum’s significance in enhancing bilateral economic relations. He highlighted the role of women entrepreneurs in driving innovation and growth, underlining the importance of facilitating collaboration, knowledge exchange and business partnerships between the two countries.
Siham bint Ahmed al Harthi, Board Member of OCCI and head of its Tourism Committee, stated that the forum – the first of its kind – focused on identifying areas of cooperation and investment opportunities across various industries. She reiterated the chamber’s commitment to empowering women entrepreneurs and fostering greater private sector engagement between Oman and Uzbekistan.
Discussions centred on investment opportunities in Oman, government incentives for foreign investors, and potential collaborations in economic, tourism and cultural sectors. The forum also underscored the importance of knowledge-sharing and strategic partnerships between Omani and Uzbek business communities.
On the sidelines of the forum, bilateral meetings took place between Omani and Uzbek business representatives, facilitating direct engagement, trade discussions and potential joint ventures. The event reinforced both countries’ commitment to expanding economic cooperation and strengthening private sector ties.
