Oman launches digital platform to boost non-oil exports

26 Feb 2025

Muscat – Oman’s Ministry of Commerce, Industry & Investment Promotion (MoCIIP) has launched www.exports.om, a digital platform aimed at connecting Omani businesses with global markets and strengthening the country’s non-oil export sector.

“Our SMEs have incredible potential in international markets,” said H E Ibtisam al Farooji, Undersecretary for Investment Promotion at MoCIIP. “This new platform opens doors for them by providing the right tools, connections, and support to start exporting. We have built an e-marketplace where Omani businesses can reach buyers worldwide and access the guidance they need to succeed globally.”

The Oman Export platform has been introduced as the country’s non-oil trade reached $14.6bn by the end of Q3 2024, accounting for 37.6% of the sultanate’s total trade. From Musandam to Dhofar, companies are exporting minerals, plastics, rubber, fish, foodstuffs, fragrances, textiles, industrial goods, and metals to over 130 countries, with Saudi Arabia, the UAE, India, the US, and South Korea as key markets.

Lubna al Harthy, Director of the Export Development Department at MoCIIP, described the platform’s features, stating: “It will help businesses export more easily by providing certification assistance, licensing guidance, and market entry advice. The platform also includes an interactive map displaying shipping routes and key trade data.”

“Companies using the platform can access a wealth of resources. It offers detailed market reports, export guides, and advice covering everything from documentation to logistics. In addition, our team of export specialists is on hand to provide personalised support at every step.”

The initiative aligns with Oman Vision 2040’s economic diversification goals by equipping local businesses with the necessary tools to compete on a global scale. By strengthening supply chains and enhancing international visibility, the platform aims to position Oman as a more competitive player in world trade.
