Suwaiq – Environment Authority (EA), together with the Royal Oman Police personnel, rescued a red fox from a citizen’s house in the wilayat of Suwaiq, North Batinah governorate.

The animal has been released in the wild after rescue, officials said.

According to officials, a team from the authority and ROP quickly responded to a report of an unexpected visitor intruding into the residence of a local resident in Suwaiq.

The team safely captured the fox, and promptly released it into its natural habitat after assessing its health.

The red fox is known to be one of the most common predatory animals in Oman, often spotted near populated areas and in urban environments. Typically living in burrows, the fox is nocturnal and emerges to hunt for food.

Red foxes are particularly abundant along coastal areas, including Ras al Hadd. They primarily feed on rodents, birds, small animals, as well as young reptiles and sheep. The fox typically weighs between 3kg to 5kg.

The Environment Authority emphasised the importance of maintaining ecological balance and urged the public to respect the natural habitat of such wildlife.
