Muscat – Oman along with other Arab states have slammed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s remarks that a Palestinian state should be established in Saudi Arabia.
The sultanate expressed its full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, strongly condemning the statement made by Prime Minister Netanyahu regarding Saudi Arabia’s territorial integrity.
In an official statement, Oman’s Foreign Ministry reaffirmed the sultanate’s unwavering support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on the 1967 borders.
Commenting on the statement, H E Sayyid Badr al Busaidi, wrote on social media platform X, “The ill-considered and unwise speculations of the Israeli Prime Minister regarding the establishment of a Palestinian state outside the sovereign borders of Palestine serve no purpose other than an agenda of extremism, instability and violence. We reject such speculations and assert our full support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Saudi Arabia.”
Netanyahu suggested earlier this week that Palestinians should be moved to Saudi Arabia which has “a lot of land”, calling a Palestinian state a “security threat” to Israel.
Riyadh quickly rebuffed the Israeli leader’s comments in a foreign ministry statement, reiterating that normalisation with Israel would only be possible if an independent Palestinian state was established.
Egypt, Jordan and the United Arab Emirates also condemned the Israeli statement.
