Muscat – The Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation has announced the four projects selected to represent Oman at the 50th Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions, set to take place from April 9 to 13 in Switzerland.
H E Dr Saif Abdullah al Hadabi, Undersecretary for Research and Innovation, highlighted the importance of the event in fostering innovation and promoting a knowledge-based economy. He noted that participation helps innovators refine their skills and prepares them for global markets.
The selected projects include a car air conditioner cleaning and sterilisation system by Mahmoud al Hanaei, a communication app for the deaf and mute community by Lian al Rahbi, an educational app linking science with natural tourist sites by Dr Huda al Hosni, and a maritime safety system for fishing boats by Moayed al Balushi.
Oman ranks 64th globally in the Innovation Index and aims to be in the top 40 by 2030. The Ministry supports over 400 research projects annually and continues to foster a culture of innovation through programmes such as ‘Ejad’ and ‘Upgrade,’ in partnership with educational institutions and the private sector.
Khadija al Harrasi, a specialist in research and innovation, noted the exhibition’s significance as a global platform featuring innovations from 40 countries, offering Omani inventors the opportunity to showcase their ideas and connect with international investors.
