Muscat – The Royal Cars Museum at Al Barakah Palace in Seeb was officially inaugurated on Tuesday by H H Sayyid Bilarab bin Haitham al Said following directives of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik.
The opening ceremony was attended by members of the Royal family, senior government officials and car enthusiasts. H H Sayyid Bilarab marked the official launch by unveiling a commemorative plaque. Attendees then watched a visual presentation highlighting the historical significance of cars in Oman’s modern Renaissance, alongside an introduction to the museum’s unique collection of vehicles.
H H Sayyid Bilarab later toured the museum’s galleries, where he viewed a collection of iconic cars linked to key figures of Oman’s history. The exhibits include vehicles used by the late Sultan Qaboos bin Said, the late Sultan Said bin Taimour, and the late Sayyid Tarik bin Taimour, besides cars belonging to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik.
The museum’s collection includes a range of classic, rare and limited-edition cars, many of which have significant historical value. Among the highlights is a 130-year-old steam-powered car, as well as vintage armoured and some of the earliest models of electric vehicles. The collection also features sports cars and exclusive models sourced from around the world, representing various automotive eras.
The museum is now open to the public on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Visitors are required to book tickets in advance via the museum’s official website www.rcm.gov.om
