Duqm – The Special Economic Zone Authority in Duqm (SEZAD), located in Al Wusta Governorate, has inaugurated a new public park in the heart of Duqm’s commercial district. Spanning an area of 13,000 square metres, the park is designed to enhance the quality of life in the area, offering a variety of facilities and services that add aesthetic value to the surrounding environment.
Strategically located to connect with nearby residential and commercial areas, the park boasts 5,000 square metres of green spaces for relaxation, alongside a 1,500-metre walkway. The park also features shaded seating areas for families, a designated lane for electric scooters, and two children’s play areas. In addition, a multi-purpose sports ground, covering 800 square metres, can be used for football, basketball, tennis, and other recreational and cultural events. The park also includes a 200-square-metre beach volleyball court.
Ibrahim bin Zaher al Rawahy, Head of the Landscaping Department at SEZAD, highlighted that the park is equipped with more than 125 trees and facilities for mobile food vendors. It also provides charging outlets for electronic devices, external display screens, speakers, and surveillance cameras. Additionally, plans are in place to install wireless communication devices (Wi-Fi) in the future.
The park is part of SEZAD’s continued efforts to provide an attractive environment for businesses and residents alike. Al Rawahy added that various family-friendly entertainment events, particularly for children, are set to take place in the coming months as part of SEZAD’s broader development strategy for the region.
The park’s opening is seen as another step in the ongoing transformation of Duqm, adding to the array of amenities being developed to support the growing community and enhance its appeal as a thriving business and residential hub.
