Muscat – The Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs (MERA) announced on Wednesday that 13,933 pilgrims have so far completed all travel requirements for haj.

This figure accounts for 99.8% of the total quota of 14,000 that Oman enjoys, while the rest are undergoing medical examinations.

Sultan bin Saeed al Hinai, Director General of Administrative and Financial Affairs at MERA and the head of the Omani Haj Mission for 1445AH, shared key details regarding haj during a press conference on Wednesday.

Of the 14,000 quota, 13,500 are for Omanis, 250 for Arab residents, and 250 for non-Arab residents, Hinai informed.

Quoting statistics, the Director General said among the pilgrims, women constitute 49.9%.

In the age category, individuals aged between 30 and 45 represent 41.7% of the total pilgrims this year, while those in 46 to 60-year category account for 36.7%, followed by individuals above 60 years at 16.8%.

Young pilgrims between 18 and 30 years represent 4.9% of the pilgrims.
